Excerpts from Bruchon's Trial
Following the death, and resurrection of Balinor, the Auspex of the Sky Shepard was forced to discuss the matter with The Shar Order.
As I have eluded to in recent writings, the duel at Kalimbor between Constanicos Grue of Kell City and Balinor the future High King, was meant to be a celebratory bout to showcase the prowess of the guest of honor and the winner of the tournament. However, the three-day long event had pushed the young prince from the north to take things far too seriously, resulting in a blade of serenfaen forged metal to be plunged deep into the heart of Balinor. 1
But the miracle of Balinor’s resurrection was the result of another event becoming entangled in the tournament: the end of the 2nd Aeon. A child of the riverfolk named Bruchon had been following the path of the sun for years, preaching the stories of those who had received blessings from the Sky Shepard. He had been assembling stories from across Ar’rin and researching the myths associated with the advancements made in farming. He believed that the world was changing, and he had decided to spend a few weeks in Kalimbor.
Upon his arrival he learned of the impending tournament and was in attendance when the duel ended in bloodshed and the death of the popular Captain of the Guard and the local militia. Balinor was already quite famous for having fought on both sides of the Green Grass War.2 He was also a deft hand at keeping the burgeoning city safe and calm for the tribes of herders and the local farmers. Bruchon had assuredly heard a great many stories by the time he attended, but as you will see in the excerpts below, he was there for an entirely different reason.
